Mindful M3 (SEL) - General Evaluation Form
Step 4: The Pilot Evaluation Form
This work is still in draft form—unfinished, evolving, and in need of your thoughtful eyes. Time is of the essence. The challenges children face are not waiting, and the truth is, they needed tools like this yesterday.
You may notice that some of the material, at first sight, appears advanced for 4th grade — for example, lessons on subjectivity and objectivity. In practice, however, I have taught these same lessons to a 4th grade class by using the simple language of 'facts and feelings.' Each student was able to write a short story about a food experience using both facts and feelings in their sentences, and then we shared and discussed them together. The children didn’t need to master the concept — the point was to stretch their thinking, expand their growth mindset, and introduce them to the idea that they are capable of much more than conventional pedagogy often assumes.
As you complete this evaluation form, please focus on:
- Content clarity
- Flow and engagement
- Usability for educators and parents
- Ways to make it more game-like and experiential
